Now recruiting for Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging
The role of Director of APTUK is a pivotal leadership position within the Association, distinct from that of an Executive Committee Member. While Executive Committee Members contribute to the governance and strategic direction of APTUK through collective decision-making and oversight, the Director role carries specific accountability, autonomy, and strategic responsibility for a defined portfolio—in this case, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).
As Director, the successful candidate will be entrusted with leading the APTUK EDI strategy across the entire organisation, ensuring that inclusivity is embedded in every aspect of our work. This includes:
- Driving the implementation of EDI goals across APTUK, aligning with national priorities and professional standards.
- Championing member inclusivity, ensuring that all voices—regardless of background, identity, or experience—are heard, valued, and represented.
- Leading on differential attainment initiatives, identifying barriers to progression and working collaboratively to dismantle them.
- Supporting the Inclusive Pharmacy Practice (IPP) programme, representing APTUK in national conversations and ensuring pharmacy technicians are central to the IPP agenda.
This role requires a visionary leader who can translate values into action, influence across systems, and foster a culture of belonging within the profession. The Director will work closely with the Executive Committee but will have strategic ownership of the EDI portfolio, reporting on progress, shaping policy, and ensuring accountability.

We are also recruiting for the Professional Lead, Wales and the Professional Lead, Scotland positions on the APTUK Executive Committee.
The purpose of these roles is to partner with APTUK to lead and influence policy and practices for pharmacy technicians according to the home country needs. We are therefore looking for two people who will lead on achieving APTUK strategic objectives within Wales and Scotland, inform APTUK of current and emerging national and specific healthcare/pharmacy policies and priorities and implications for local practices, and consider local country workforce priorities and/or workforce planning to implement national government healthcare policies. You will also act as an APTUK advocate, to promote the work of APTUK to encourage country membership to ensure there is a truly national representation within APTUK.
